In a heartwarming celebration that blended love, wellness and empowerment, Konnect, in partnership with Compaq College and Innovation for Health Equity in Africa (IHEA), organized a special event to honor mothers in line with the global observance of International Mother’s Day.
Held at Konnect's Zimmerman Hub, the event brought together mothers from across the communities served with Konnect Wi-Fi, who were welcomed with bouquets of flowers and wellness packs—a gesture that set the tone for a day filled with joy, bonding and gratitude.
Students from Compaq College offered mothers a glam session that included makeup and nail-polish treats, followed by fun moments at a photo booth set up to capture the beauty and spirit of the day. The air was filled with soft, relaxing music that encouraged heartfelt interactions and bonding among the women.
Under the theme “Empowering Mothers for Health, Joy, and Community,” the event also spotlighted maternal health.
A team from Link to Care under IHEA, a non-profit organization focused on improving health outcomes in Africa, facilitated impactful health-education sessions, which included live ultrasound demonstrations and a Q&A forum that gave mothers a chance to better understand their health and access to supportive healthcare services.
One of the event’s highlights was an energetic ice-breaker dance session that had the mothers on their feet, laughing and dancing their worries away. For a moment, the mums forgot all their burdens.
The emotional-wellness segment, themed “Taking Care of Your Mental & Emotional Self-Care,” featured a powerful wellness talk. Mothers participated in group sharing and reflections, focusing on themes such as balancing family, work and self-care, raising resilient children, and drawing strength from shared experiences.
As is customary at Konnect events, there were generous giveaways for all the attending mothers, culminating in a joyful cake-cutting ceremony and a delicious meal served with love and appreciation.
The celebration was not just an event; it was a heartfelt tribute to the women who anchor families and communities.
